How does freshly picked heirloom produce or free range, non-GMO fed chicken sound? Snowy River Farms is excited to be able to continue providing CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) to shareholders from Truro to Halifax for the 2026 growing season!
A CSA is a way of bringing farmers and communities together by having consumers purchase vegetable shares which provide you with the most fresh, seasonal, and ecologically produced vegetables, meats and eggs available. The fee for each shareholder is broken down into three payments, with our non-refundable $50.00 deposit being due on sign-up, half of your invoice due by April 1 and the remainder of your payments due on June 1, 2026. After payments have been made you just need to stop by your nearest pickup location, or await your delivery, and a new arrangement of veggies, meat, and/or eggs will be waiting for you, bursting with healthy goodness! The produce is as fresh as you can get as it is picked at peak maturity within 24 hours of delivery. In conventional agriculture is it near impossible to offer such an advantage.
The early payment method helps small farmers to cover some of the costs of growing the food and in turn you support local agriculture and economies, decrease transportation time which is wonderful for the environment, and you get to eat healthier too! It also lets the farmer know how much food to grow ahead of time which cuts down on waste.

Free Range Chicken Shares:
Running from June 5 until December 4, this CSA is a MONTHLY delivery to the following areas: Musquodoboit Harbour, Cole Harbor, Dartmouth, Halifax Peninsula, Bedford, Sackville, Fall River, and Elmsdale (some exceptions, email for further details). All chicken is fully free range and fed a diet of nonGMO grains, fruits, and vegetables. You can expect over the season to receive: Whole Birds Wings Drumsticks Thighs Bone-in, Skin-on Breasts Boneless, Skinless Breasts Bone Broth (less so this item). Chicken bones and organs are not included in these shares. We carefully select the cuts each month to share with you and make sure to send along a helpful tip or recipe in our newsletter ahead of CSA Day. All who participate in the chicken share receive a savings of 10% over the season. Shares are broken down into two categories: Half Share $840.00 (value of $120/month) Full Share $1400 (value of $200/month) Pick up on farm and at Atlantic Chiropractic in Hammonds Plains is free, delivery to any other location is $70 for the season ($10/month)

Payments for this CSA are broken down into three instalments. A non-refundable deposit of $50 is required to hold your place. Half of your total is due by April 1, 2026 and the remainder is due by June 1, 2026. The non-refundable deposit for each share purchased is included in your payments. If you would like to get in on a share and are worried about being able to pay your entire half right now but don't want to miss a share (eggs for example which tend to get gobbled up quickly) you can make your deposit payment first as long as the remainder of your first half owed is paid up by April 1 ,2023. Alternatively you can pay in Full immediately through our online store. If you wish to make payments please contact us through our CONTACT button and we will be happy to invoice you in sections :)

- Full Chicken Share $1400.00 (value of $200/month): You can expect over the season to receive: 2 Whole Bird per month in addition to wings, drumsticks, thighs, bone-in, skin-on breasts, boneless, skinless breasts and/or bone broth (less so this item).
- Egg Share $175.50 (27 weeks): One dozen eggs weekly. All who participate in the chicken share receive a savings of 8% over the season.
- Open Market Share $500.00: Buy a $500 credit to the market and save 10% on meat, eggs, vegetables bought through your CSA card. Skip pick up days with no hassle (vacation as much as you'd like!), pick the items you want, support your farmer and save on local goodness. We will send you a virtual gift card which you can use through our online store. Keep track of your number and it can also be used at markets if we are able to participate again (includes on farm purchasing). You pay $500 and we load your card with $550.00 then you are set to buy local!

Here is a breakdown of our locations for free pick up, times and what to expect:

- ON FARM - You will be able to pick up your items (Meat, Eggs or Veggies) between 11am and 7pm from our farm. Your items will be in the walk in cooler (first door on the left in our barn) with your meat items bagged in the stand up freezer located in the same room. Please bring a bag with you to transfer your items into it! Items are also available on Saturday or Sunday if Friday doesn't work for you. Must be picked up by 12pm Sunday at the latest. Any items missed will be donated.
- HAMMONDS PLAINS - (Atlantic Chiropractic) - Items will be available at this location from 2pm-4pm. Please bring a bag with you to transfer your items into it! Any items missed that day will be donated.
- DIRECT HOME DELIVERY- If you wish to have your items delivered directly to your home we offer delivery for a fee of $10/week within our designated areas. Please inquire about availability!
